Original Landform of Kekeya Green Project: Kekekya in Uygur language refers to green gullies and blue cliffs. Located in alluvial terrace between Aksu River and the Tailan River at the southern foot of the Tianshan Mountains, Kekeya is a desert with gullies and sparse vegetation, and known as “Kapo”. With an altitude between 1,056 meters and 1,300 meters, it is high in the north and low in the south, and slopes from northwest to southeast. Located in the northeast suburb of Aksu City and Wensu County (both of them are in the northern edge of the Taklamakan Desert, known as “Sea of Death” ), Kekeya is the main source of sandstorm in Aksu City and Wensu County. In April and May, Aksu City, Wensu County and surrounding villages are hit by sandstorms, which have an awful harm to local eco-environment, industrial and agricultural production, and people’s life. In such a bad weather, locals have to stay home, with the light on as well as doors and windows close in the daytime.
